Hamzah’s “new home” could be an existing party within PN

HAMZAH Zainudin is keeping observers in suspense over the “new home” he is joining, hinting that it may not be a brand-new party after all but possibly an existing one already within the PN coalition.

Speaking to Sinar Harian, the former deputy president of Bersatu said the ambiguity stems from his use of the phrase “new home”, which does not necessarily imply forming a new political party.

“When we say a new home, does it mean a new party or an existing party? The answer is not necessarily a newly formed party,” he told news portal Sinar Harian, adding that it is also a possibility for him to join PAS.

He further fuelled speculation by suggesting that the platform in question could already be part of PN.

Hamzah also dismissed criticism over his move after leaving Bersatu, maintaining that his position remains aligned with PN’s mandate.

He pointed out that he continues to serve under the coalition’s banner and enjoys the backing of a majority of Bersatu lawmakers.

“19 out of 25 (Bersatu) MPs are with me. So who is the one acting inappropriately? Perhaps the ‘minority’ should not be sitting there,” he said.

Beyond the 19 MPs who have publicly pledged support, he indicated that several state assemblymen nationwide are also expected to align with him.

On the broader direction of his political journey, Hamzah stressed that the focus goes beyond individual survival, centering instead on sustaining Malay leadership rooted in fairness, religious values and the principles of the Rukun Negara.

“What matters is that the struggle must continue. Today we are discussing the problems faced by the Malays.

The Malays want to see this country continue to be led by Malay leaders who know how to deliver justice for all,” he said. —Apr 5, 2026
