Has Anwar consulted Agong on his new Cabinet line-up list?

NEWLY minted Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at the Istana Negara at 8.22am today, widely believed to present and seek consent of his Cabinet line-up list from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, according to a Bernama Tweet.

He left the National Palace approximately an hour later at 9.20am. According to his packed itinerary, he will be granted an audience by Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at 10am at the Istana Kinta in Ipoh.

Soon after his meeting with Sultan Nazrin, he will be spending the first half of his day in the vicinity of his Tambun constituency, according to his official itinerary list shared with the media by his communications team.

He will first have cordial walkabout session at the Tanjung Rambutan Market (11.30am) followed by a visit to the Manjoi health clinic site (12.30pm) before performing the Friday prayer and participating in a kenduri rakyat (lunch feast) later at the Muhammad Al-Fateh Mosque in Taman Jati, Ipoh.

Given the tight schedule, the media is anticipating that if Anwar were to announce his Cabinet line-up today, then it could be soon after the Friday prayers-cum-lunch feast event – probably around 3pm to 4pm – and very likely from his Tambun parliamentary constituency which itself is an honour for Perakians.

Indeed, a big juggle for Malaysia’s 10th PM who has vowed to come out with a lean Cabinet list for his unity government as he enters his eighth day as Malaysia’s top political leader (since his appointment as PM on Nov 24). – Dec 2, 2022
