PRO-Madani government backers have trolled PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man after he urged the public and law enforcement agencies not to jump the gun in ensuring that justice is meted out justly in the case of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH).
“Is this tribe related to GISBH? It seems to be very strongly defending the oppressor,” wondered one commenter to a Sinar Harian post of Tuan Ibrahim’s statement. His view was echoed by other likeminded netizens.
Budaya ‘jatuh hukum’ sebelum mahkamah perlu dihentikan – Tuan Ibrahim

One rightly suggested that PAS should walk the talk by stopping such culture in the Islamist party first, alluding to its Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden labelling Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a criminal when the UMNO president has never been convicted but was let off with a DNAA (dismissal not amounting to acquittal).
For more context, Tuan Ibrahim had stressed in a statement posted on his Facebook page yesterday (Sept 30) that only the court can determine if GISBH and its members are guilty of crimes as alleged.
“We should let the police, investigating agencies and religious authorities investigate completely, and let the court decide on the case,” insisted the Kubang Kerian MP.
“The culture of getting ahead of the justice system should be stopped. Everyone other than judges, including investigators, does not have the authority to determine if someone is guilty or otherwise.”
It is worth noticing that Tuan Ibrahim is not the first PAS personality to offer some degree of ‘back-up’ to GISBH which has its origin as a remnant of the banned deviant Islamic sect Al-Arqam.
While lauding police action against GISBH, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has cautioned the authorities not to be over-zealous in their approach.
“We support the strict action taken against wrongdoers but let’s not be hasty in meting out punishment, especially when it comes to the group as a whole,” justified the Kota Bahru MP in a statement dated Sept 22.
“This includes its innocent members and GISBH’s legitimate activities such as its huge business enterprise which must be protected from injustice that may have been triggered by sentiments, prejudices, business rivalry or even vested political interests.”
Above all else, PAS head honcho Tan Sri Hadi Awang has denied that the Islamist party has any connection with the controversy surrounding GISBH which has made unpleasant headlines following its alleged links to child exploitation and child abuse.
“No ties with us (PAS). Although some international media tried to involve us, that is inaccurate. Not our members and nothing to do with us,” he told reporters after delivering his policy speech at the 70th PAS annual muktamar (general assembly) on Sept 14.
The chain of events compounded by Tuan Ibrahim’s latest statement further let to one Madani government backer poked fun at PAS for “having emerged the GISBH spokesman”.

This triggered sone commenters to wonder if PAS “has started to shiver” as investigations by the police and various other authorities are only getting deeper as the days go by.
At the end of the day, one commenter questioned why is UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh seemingly “quiet” on the matter when he has previously claimed that “he’s ready to fight and sacrifice himself if his religion and race are attacked?”
“Are Teresa’s (DAP vice-chairman Teresa Kok) words more dangerous than this GISBH case? Or because Teresa is Chinese?” she asked. – Oct 1, 2024
