JOHOR UMNO liaison committee chairperson Datuk Hasni Mohammad is ready to contest for a parliament seat in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).
The former Johor menteri besar (MB) said, however, he would leave it to the UMNO leadership to decide on the matter.
“I am ready to serve and continue to serve, I leave it to the top leadership,” he told reporters after chairing the state UMNO meeting at the Johor UMNO headquarters yesterday.
Hasni, who is also Johor Barisan Nasional chairperson, had contested the Benut state seat since 2008, and in the last state election, he retained the seat with a majority of 5,859 votes.
Asked about the role of new Johor MB Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi ins tate UMNO chapter, Hasni said the Machap state assemblyman would be involved as a Johor Umno liaison committee member in the future to ensure continuity between the state government and the party.
Apart from that, Hasni said Johor UMNO had instructed all 26 if its divisions to re-evaluate the party’s structure following the latest political developments following the state elections to further strengthen the party and enable elected representatives to provide effective services to their constituents. – April 2, 2022.
