PASIR Gudang MP Hassan Karim has called for patience over the government’s efforts to resolve the issues plaguing the nation.
The former Federal-State Relations Select Committee chairman explained that the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led administration was similar to a “seven-month-old baby that has yet to learn to run”.
“The people need to be a little patient (over resolving issues). There are numerous significant problems in the country, but Anwar is resolving them one by one,” Hassan said at an event in Permatang, Kuala Selangor last night (July 12).
Hassan said despite being outspoken in his criticism of Anwar sometimes, this was done out of admiration for the prime minister.
Recall that in April, Hassan had acknowledged that his frank views about Anwar’s administration has struck a sensitive chord among several PKR leaders.
However, he noted that as much as he understood their concern, it was tough for him to hold back on matters of principle.
On July 1, Hassan had called for Anwar to disclose the identities of the ‘wealthy people’ who had threatened to bring down the unity government.
The Prime Minister had previously claimed that ‘wealthy people’ who have stolen billions of ringgit from the country are conspiring against him because of his anti-corruption campaign.
Hassan was well-known for his outspoken manner in reprimanding anyone he felt had done wrong, including his own party president.
In December last year, Hassan criticised the Tambun MP’s decision of appointing Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as his deputy prime minister, despite the UMNO president facing 47 corruption charges involving millions of ringgits.
In April this year, Hassan warned that the unity government would face a major disaster if Datuk Seri Najib Razak was granted a royal pardon and Zahid’s charges were dropped. – July 13, 2023
