MR Wong runs a lean marketing agency with all his staff, about eight of them, who work remotely.
Nowadays the office rental isn’t cheap hence he felt the work from home arrangement was very beneficial.
However, his casual chat with a French expatriate real estate agent by the name of Mr Fa Cade was about to change his perspective.
”As a business owner, you are not just running it. You already know how vital it is to build relationships to cultivate alternative revenue streams,” said Mr Fa Cade to Mr Wong one day at a coffee shop.
Those words struck a chord within Mr Wong who realised he had been losing out on several deals to other agencies lately.
”Sales is about substance and form. We can’t possibly sell success to our clients if we ourselves do not portray the very definition of success,” Mr Fa Cade continued.
”So what’s the idea?” Mr Wong said.
”Get an office my good sir. Do you prefer to make a sales pitch to your client in a Mamak stall or in a beautiful, well crafted office building with a luxuriously defined lobby?” Mr Fa Cade said.
”Winning the first impression is winning the first half of the battle. And I am aware how exceedingly competitive the agency industry is out there. You will need everything available to convince your potential clients,” Mr Fa Cade added.
”From the way you said it, you already have something in mind,” Mr Wong said, thoughtful.

Mr Fa Cade added that employers will also need to have an office address to attract high quality employees. People simply cannot take a bunch of people working from home seriously.
