CAFE Chef Wan has today unveiled its Nasi Lemak ‘Wan’ Malaysia as a tribute to the Merdeka Day by brining flavour, unity and heritage to the dining table.
Available from Aug 17 to Sept 17, this elegantly crafted culinary twist combines top picks from diverse Malaysian food cultures. Ultimately, the Merdeka-themed nasi lemak captures the harmonious fusion of cultures, thus symbolising the unity and diversity of Malaysia.
Recognised as a Malaysian culinary treasure, the loveable nasi lemak traces its origin to a bold, spicy and ubiquitous legacy. For maximum enjoyment, Chef Wan has re-imagined the dish with a contemporary touch.
With a light, fresh aroma rising from the fragrant rice cooked with coconut milk and pandan leaves, Nasi Lemak ‘Wan’ Malaysia is paired with Chinese sweet and spicy chilli tiger prawns, aromatic home-made Malay sambal sotong (squid), Kadazan-Dusun wild ginger chicken Tuhau, and Indian pakora crispy fritters.
As a result, this wonderful feast for two offers a balance made of contrasting flavours – some hot, some mild, some sour and some sweet.
A perfect match of textures, all Café Chef Wan outlets except for Cafe Chef Wan Petit will offer the commemorative dish which signifies the spirt of muhibbah and unity. Priced at RM66++, dining-in, take-away and delivery options are available.
“The Nasi Lemak ‘Wan’ Malaysia is more than just a dish; it’s a celebration of our culture, unity and national journey. Through the inventive culinary vision of Café Chef Wan, we are thrilled to offer a taste of Malaysia’s rich heritage,” enthused Chef Wan.
“We invite everyone to join us in this culinary experience this Merdeka, reflecting our nation’s vibrant diversity and our commitment to excellence in dining.”
Curated exclusively for this year’s Merdeka, Café Chef Wan – a restaurant chain under the Chef Wan Group of Restaurants – offers a long stretch of counters to present an international menu inspired by Chef Wan’s travels.
In addition, Chef Wan has personally fashioned the exclusive menu to coincide with both the Merdeka and Malaysia Day, accentuating customary delicacies and honouring Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage through gastronomy.
Reservations are now open for those who wish to taste the full richness of Nasi Lemak “Wan” Malaysia and be part of this grand celebration. More information can be accessed from www.cafechefwan.my. – Aug 18, 2023
