THE Health Ministry’s allocation will increase to RM47.7bil next year from RM46.5bil this year, as the government steps up efforts to improve public healthcare facilities and services.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the allocation when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Of the total, RM1.2bil will be channelled towards repairing, upgrading and maintaining public hospitals and clinics nationwide.
The government will also build nine new healthcare facilities next year, including a specialist clinic complex and a daycare treatment centre at Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor.
“More than RM770 mil will also be allocated for the procurement of modern and sophisticated equipment to speed up diagnosis and treatment,” Anwar said.
The equipment upgrades will cover haemodialysis facilities at hospitals nationwide, alongside the procurement of 400 new government ambulances.
The allocation will also support a specialist hospital under Universiti Sains Malaysia equipped with robotic surgery capabilities, as well as clinical simulation equipment and science laboratories at 18 training institutes.
Separately, the government will set aside RM200mil to outsource patients to other hospitals, a move aimed at easing congestion and shortening waiting times for treatment.—Oct 9, 2026
