Health pass system eases entry into Malaysia

TRAVELLERS can make an entry into Malaysia with ease amidst stringent SOPs introduced to keep COVID-19 in check.

MY E.G. Services Bhd (MYEG) has launched MySafeTravel, a digital health pass system for travellers aimed at making entry into Malaysia simpler and safer.

With the system, travellers can now have the convenience and peace of mind of having the necessary tests and quarantine arrangements confirmed before arrival.

They can now choose their preferred quarantine locations from a selection of options that would suit their individual budgets, ranging from government facilities to premium and luxury hotels.

MySafeTravel users will be provided with a QR-code based digital certificate through the MyQR by MYEG smartphone application, which will be used by border authorities as proof of compliance with the prevailing Standard Operating Procedures (“SOPs”) related to travel.

Currently, it is mandatory for travellers arriving from overseas, both Malaysians and non-Malaysians, to undergo COVID-19 swab tests and be quarantined for a 14-day period at their own expense.

By providing a hassle-tree travel experience to travellers while still adhering to SOPs set by the Government, the system is also set to boost the country’s ailing tourism industry.

The system has been live since Nov 1 and is accessible at safetravel. myeg.com.my.

Myeg, which developed and operates the system, has said it will be introducing additional features as travel restrictions are lifted and SOPs established with other countries. – Nov 4, 2020
