WITH Malaysia’s Independence Day (Merdeka) closing in, homegrown batik and textile online store Nyonya Kain is launching the Nyonya Kain & The Community, in collaboration with Mercy Malaysia, to support efforts in strengthening the country’s healthcare system.
Through the collaboration, Nyonya Kain will contribute 20% of all sales made between July 8 to Oct 31 towards Mercy Malaysia in its overall medical relief efforts throughout the country, including supporting the implementation of mobile vaccination centres (PPVs) to vaccinate community members who have troubles going to the nearest PPVs.
The donation will also go towards providing continuous humanitarian assistance to affected parties, including hospitals, volunteers and medical frontliners.
Nyonya Kain’s contribution will also aid in the deployment of critically needed medical equipment and other essential supplies to the medical sector.
Throughout the duration of this campaign, customers may purchase anything from Nyonya Kain’s website to participate, from its range of fashionwear, to accessories, and collectibles.
“I have always believed that a business has the power to show love and care towards members of the community who are in need of help as long as we have the means and necessary resources to do so,” said Nyonya Kain founder Dayana Reza.
“In such crucial times, the importance of coming together as a nation is inevitable and Nyonya Kain aims to play a part in doing so,” she added.
Looking to enhance awareness on Batik and its diverse usage, Nyonya Kain has also started a special #BatikForEveryone #Merdeka campaign with various initiatives online such as a special traditional dance challenge.
In line with this, from now to Sept 16, 2021, Nyonya Kain is inviting the nation to unite and share appreciation for local arts by showcasing their batik products.
Nyonya Kain offers a variety of handmade batik products and adopts a zero-waste concept by making sure that every piece of fabric is fully utilised in their products.
The brand already has a strong track-record of giving back to society, having collaborated with several non-government organisations (NGOs) since the company was set up in 2018. To date, Nyonya Kain has raised about RM10,000 for charity through sales and proceeds.
