Hexagon, NAICO Malaysia forge strategic alliance to drive digital innovation in aerospace industry

HEXAGON’S Manufacturing Intelligence, a global leader in precision technologies, has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Aerospace Industry Corp Malaysia (NAICO) to collaborate on advancing Malaysia’s aerospace industry.

The strategic MoU aims to drive innovation and transformative growth within the aerospace sector by focusing on enhancing advanced manufacturing capabilities, strengthening the industry supply chain and elevating workforce competencies.

The signing ceremony took place at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, in conjunction with the 17th edition of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025).

NAICO Malaysia is an agency under the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI), with a mandate to develop and position Malaysia as the preferred aerospace economy in Southeast Asia as well as to be an integral part of the global aerospace value chain by 2030.

NAICO Malaysia is guided by the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 (MAIB 2030) under the 12th Malaysa Plan.

The MAIB 2030 is also supported by the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) to bolster the Malaysian aerospace industry towards achieving MAIB goals by 2030.

The Hexagon-NAICO Malaysia MOU entails accelerating development in the following areas:

  • Promoting research, innovation and technology development relevant to industry needs.
  • Enhancing digital transformation and advanced manufacturing capabilities.
  • Supporting initiatives that strengthen industry supply chains and workforce development.
  • Facilitating knowledge exchange, training and networking opportunities.
  • Exploring joint initiatives that contribute to industry growth and competitiveness.

Meanwhile, NAICO Malaysia CEO Shamsul Kamar Abu Samah described the collaboration with Hexagon as a “pivotal step in advancing Malaysia’s aerospace capabilities”.

“By leveraging Hexagon’s cutting-edge solutions at our Malaysia Aerospace Centre of Excellence (MyAERO Centre), we aim to accelerate innovation, enhance precision in manufacturing and strengthen Malaysia’s position in the global aerospace value chain.,” he added. – May 23, 2025
