High chances for second night of Coldplay concert, says Live Nation

TALKS are underway to add an additional day to Coldplay’s first-ever concert in Malaysia following a petition by thousands of frustrated fans who had failed to acquire tickets for the British rock band’s performance on November 22 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Coldplay fans who could not get their hands on concert tickets after they went on sale last Tuesday (May 16) and Wednesday (May 17) went online to start a petition demanding that a second show be added.

At time of writing, the petition has accumulated over 14,000 signatures.

The announcement comes in the wake of Coldplay’s decision to add a second concert date in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Speculations are rife that the band is considering doing the same in Perth, Australia.

According to Live Nation Malaysia managing director Para Rajagopal, the organisers will have to evaluate several aspects before planning a second performance.

“There is a possibility. Discussions are ongoing, so we can’t say anything right now,” he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

Para said the event organisers have no influence over who can successfully acquire tickets, citing the recent news of scalpers reselling tickets for Coldplay’s show in Malaysia, with one ticket reported to be for sale for RM43,000.

Malaysia does not have legislation that deals with ticket touts, according to Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who stated yesterday (May 23) that they are investigating several elements before proposing laws to prohibit and punish ticket scalpers. – May 24, 2023
