High hopes abound for KL’s very own “Powerpuff Girls” to clean up Fed capital from crime, crooks

THOSE growing up watching cartoon series The Powerpuff Girls will remember Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup – defenders of the fictional metropolis Townville from mad scientists, bank robbers and aliens with the help of their special powers.

In the same light, the Madani government has gone to town unveiling three “iron ladies” to spearhead the administration of Kuala Lumpur (KL) purportedly after their so-called male predecessors had failed miserably to make the Federal capital a peaceful or corrupt-free place to live in.

“Massage cartel, B2B (body-to-body) cartel, dark screen cartel, prostitution cartel, illegal jaga parking cartel, Acehnese-Bangladeshi cartels and all cartels in and around KL … meet KL’s New PowerPuff Girls” screamed pro-Madani government social media influencer JOKER🔺(@tjerealjoke) on the X platform.

For the uninitiated, the ‘superhero’ trio comprised Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa, newly-minted and KL’s first lady mayor Datuk Seri Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif and Federal Territories Department director-general Datuk Noridah Abdul Rahim.

Another unity government-slant social media influencer CIKYANIE (@lady_bugg11) hailed the appointment of Maimunah’s who is “from the outer KL City Hall (DBKL) circle” by pointing to how coincidental that the DBKL deputy director of enforcement and his assistant were charged yesterday (Aug 15) at the KL Sessions Court “for soliciting RM200,000 and receiving RM160,000 dan RM130,000 monthly from a 62-year-old caretaker of a vice den”.

The bribe serves as an inducement to refrain from taking enforcement action against unlicensed entertainment premises under the man’s supervision.

“Congratulations PMX and @DrZalihaMustafa … the cleaning up of @DBKL2u commences now,” penned CIKYANIE on her X account.

“Go ahead to clean KL from prostitution dens, gambling centres, immorality, foreign traders and corruption. Keep going!”

As the progress to rid KL of illegal and undesirable activities has been glaring since Dr Zaliha assumed her new portfolio as the FT Minister, netizens have not only heaped praises at the former health minister but wanted her to be retained in her current position in light of speculations that she might be dropped in the upcoming cabinet reshuffle.

As it is, rumours are rife that she has stepped on the toes or ruffled feathers of many underworld syndicates with her no-nonsense attitude.

“I’m not a fan of our current government structure but I genuinely want Dr Zaliha to remain,” tweeted MSA | شافيق 🇲🇾🇵🇸 (@ShfqAsrf). “It’s great to witness the significant changes we’ve been anticipating for so long. “The langgar semua (just barge through) concept is so good!” – Aug 16, 2024
