THE Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has denied a viral social media post claiming that motorcyclists will have to pay tolls from October 2025, calling it false and misleading.
The post, titled “Motorcyclists Can Experience Paying Tolls Starting October 2025”, was uploaded on Aug 9, 2025, by the account ebidmotor across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
In a statement, LLM said the post contained “inaccurate information that could have misled highway users, particularly motorcyclists” and “has harmed the reputations of the Government, the Works Ministry, LLM and the concessionaires involved.”
LLM explained that PLUS Malaysia Berhad is currently testing an open toll system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.
“If the test is successful, implementation will be carried out in stages on highways operated by PLUS Malaysia Berhad. The main objective of this system is to streamline traffic flow, enhance user comfort, and reduce congestion at toll plazas,” it said.
“There are no changes to the categories of vehicles subject to tolls at this time, including motorcyclists. Therefore, the post uploaded by ebidmotor is untrue, misleading, and can cause unnecessary concern among motorcyclists,” it added.
LLM urged the public not to believe or spread unverified claims and instead “refer to official sources and statements verified by the authorities.” —Aug 10, 2025
