Historic return of Anwar at MCA building in celebrations of CNY

IT has been over 20 years since Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has publicly celebrated any festive seasons with any Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition members.

However, following the formation of a coalition government after the last elections, he was today seen attending Chinese New Year celebrations hosted by the MCA. A historic event indeed.

Nevertheless, some netizens are concerned that he would be criticised by the opposition, who are seen to be in disagreement with all that Anwar does, including celebrating the cultures of others.

Twitter user @dewasaid stated:

In response, he acknowledged that there may be sarcastic comments directed towards the Prime Minister for attending the event. Additionally, he said that some supporters of the opposition party may mock the Prime Minister for attending.

Meanwhile, Twitter user @AdamaMotorolaaa said:

He stated that it would be nice for Anwar to attend the next Perhimpunan Agung UMNO (UMNOā€™s yearly meetings). He also added that it would be a bonus for us to see him singing the UMNO song among other members.

Moreover, user @Euginie95P added:

The user emphasised that the racist culture should be left in the past and that the current trend is for people of all races and religions to come together as Malaysians for the betterment of our country.

She also noted the importance of living in peace and harmony with one another and suggested that those who refuse to accept this, may need a reality check.

Furthermore, our Prime Minister thanked MCA on both his Twitter and Facebook accounts for extending their invitation to his family. It garnered heavy attention on Facebook, with over 2,000 likes within an hour, and is mostly filled with positive remarks.
