THERE is an inexplicable feeling of dread witnessing violence being caught on video.
It transcends the fantasy of movies for there are no actors, but willing people hurting another person because it was fun or exciting.
Perhaps this was why the recent bullying case at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) caught the attention of Malaysians when it surfaced.
🚨🚨🚨
Kejadian buli di sebuah Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) di utara tanah air, berlaku pada pertengahan tahun lepas melibatkan tujuh pelajar termasuk mangsa yang berusia 15 tahun.

Although the seven perpetrators had been identified and were recommended to have their studies terminated, the damage was done.
“Oh, it is MRSM. I am not surprised,” @nourulw said, adding that the case came to light because it went viral. “What about the non viral ones?” he added, suggesting that there were more.
Also, netizen @apis_sudin said the education institution should change its name to Maktab Remaja Syaitan Mara to better reflect the attitude of the students there.
“It frightens us parents who want to send our children to these boarding schools,” @ainibanix said who is undoubtedly worried her child might be subjected to such violence too, being away from her protection.
Watching the bullies dry humping the body of the victim, @makohijo888 had the impression that they were gay.
But here comes the most important question of them all. “Sometimes, among these intelligent kids, there are some stupid ones. Why do they record it? Or did they record it in secret?” netizen @DuniaBaru5751 wondered.
@minaranrz said they likely recorded it as it was funny, that a lot of people started clicking and laughing until it became viral. “To keep it short, those kids are stupid anyway as they don’t think very far,” he said.
Another netizen further recommended that people who were bullied, or saw people being bullied, should video record it.
“Now the world is about viral stuff. Post it until it goes viral. Only when it is viral will there be action taken,” she said. —Apr 9, 2025
