PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari who is renowned for his sarcasm has ‘politely’ declined the so-called goodwill gesture by Penang DAP to seek funding and assistance to provide PAS leaders and members with courses on Chinese family names.
With gun trained at Housing and Local Government Minister and DAP vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming, the Pasir Mas MP has instead told Penang DAP organising secretary Datuk Seri Phee Boon Chee who mooted the idea of schooling PAS lawmakers “to instead invest its funds to educate your minister-level leader”.
Phee who was also the former four-term Sungai Puyi state assemblyman has cited the erroneous statement by Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria who linked Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh to the Yeoh family of the YTL Group conglomerate.
He also pointed out that Kepala Batas MP Dr Siti Mastura Muhammad had claimed that DAP retired supremo Lim Kit Siang and the party’s current chairman Lim Guan Eng were linked to the late Communist Party of Malaya leader Chin Peng and former Singapore premier the late Lee Kuan Yew.
“Although I think this suggestion (by Phee) is good, I would like to offer a much better suggestion which is to hold a basic Islamic education class for DAP leaders who are ministers,” penned Fadhli on his Facebook page.
“This is because there are DAP ministers who can utter words that are not hadiths but are referred to as hadiths. Such is an insult to Prophet Muhammad SAW, hence the mistake is much bigger than wrongly identifying Chinese names and culture.”
Not only had the minister in question “never apologised until today as if there was nothing wrong”, Fadhli claimed that he had also “toyed with terms related to Muslim worship by stating that he would hold a solat hajat (prayer of request) which was intended as a form of mockery which shouldn’t have happened”.
“So, instead of Penang DAP holding classes for PAS leaders, it would be better to invest the funds collected to teach ministerial-level DAP leaders,” justified the PAS lawmaker.
“Although the minister has a large allocation from his ministry, the allocation will certainly be used for other more important purposes such as decorating the office with Christmas Chinese New Year and soon Hari Raya decorations.”
Added Fadhli: “Moreover, the ministry’s allocation would have also been used up for best toilet competitions and others”. – Feb 4, 2025
