THE flood situation in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam took an ugly turn for one of the residents who found that police officers had swiped her food which she had ordered via Grabfood.
In a post that went viral on social media, a netizen relayed how she had to walk an hour to pick up her food from the police tent only to find that the officers had finished it.
“I told them that’s my food and I ordered it from Grab because there was a receipt on the plastic,” she recalled on Instagram.
She added that the police later told her to return home.
Her Instagram post was circulated by her cousin on Twitter and had since garnered more than 27,000 retweets.
From there, enraged netizens took to social media to air their disappointment.
User @demoiselledian said: “You’ve eaten the flood victim’s food and didn’t even bother replacing it. This is (considered) theft. You better open an investigation. We need to see people charged.”
Meanwhile, user @shazkyhar added:
(Are you just going to stay silent? If it were normal citizens [that pulled this stunt], they’d be locked up immediately. Your men are supposed to look after the people, they are supposed to be trustworthy but this act proves that they’re not trustworthy at all.)
On a similar note, user @aiman999888 remarked:
(Unbelievable. Not only did they devoured the people’s goods, now they’re misusing authority to cover up their own wrongdoings. Are they serious? The least you can do is re-order the food. Don’t tell me you can’t afford that with your high salary and permanent job. [They’re even] behaving like criminals.)
However, user @williamtan2020 pointed out the possibility that the police officers ate the food given the fact that it was there for an hour.
“The hungry men ate it which to me is okay because you don’t want to [waste the food],” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, user @Avie_Bunny strictly believed that the authorities should have had common sense.
According to a report by Malaysiakini, the authorities are currently looking into these claims. – Dec 23, 2021
