A BORED and disinterested husband trailing behind the eager beaver shopaholic wife at a mall with a blank, vacant look plastered across his face is a common sight not just in Malaysia but the world over.
But there might just be a solution to this, as seen in China when a shopping mall in the country unveiled a novel concept, which was shared on numerous social media platforms and had garnered plenty of responses.
The picture shows a man comfortably cocooned within a glass cubicle with the basic essentials – TV screen, computer joystick and a very comfy-looking recliner.
Many netizens were clamouring for this to be introduced here, including quite possibly from the bored male fraternity.
The following comments were posted on Entrepreneur and Start Ups in Malaysia Facebook forum.
However, some were against the idea as it would deprive the wives of their baggage handlers-cum-butlers.
Some also humorously pointed out that it was more important that the husband provides the credit card than brute strength as bag-carriers.
One netizen had a word of warning, saying what chance do marriages have if the couple cannot even spend some time together shopping.
Some pointed out that similar seating areas are already available locally, noting it was like a gathering spot for lost males.
One even suggested some additional features to make the contraption the perfect mini man cave.
Given the enthusiasm for this from both sides of the gender divide, this little man-cubicle – manbicle? – concept looks ripe for a start-up business. – Feb 13, 2024
