THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) raided an apartment allegedly used as a ‘safe house’ by a prominent politician as part of the investigation into a sand mining concession conducted by a subsidiary of MBI on Oct 12.
The Selangor state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is cooperating with authorities in an investigation into alleged corruption involving Menteri Besar Selangor Inc (MBI).
Yesterday (Oct 25), Amirudin emphasised the importance of allowing the investigation to proceed without disruption and expressed the state’s commitment to upholding integrity within the institution.
On the other hand, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki has announced the discovery of new leads in the investigation into a corruption case involving MBI.
He stated that details cannot be disclosed at this time, as the investigation is ongoing and involves gathering statements from witnesses.
“There has indeed been an addition of new evidence obtained, but for now, I cannot share further details about these findings. We will continue to investigate this matter more thoroughly,” news portal Bernama quoted him as saying.
Meanwhile, the identity of the politician linked to the apartment that was raided by the MACC remains a mystery.
Approximately RM5mil in foreign currency was discovered during that operation.
Two weeks ago, netizens on X (formerly Twitter) were asking who the politician said to be from Selangor but born in Singapore.
Siapa ya ahli politik Selangor lahir di Singapore?

Another user raised the issue of transparency in such investigations.
“Would be better if cases like this were handled transparently, meaning that Perikatan Nasional/Pakatan Harapan/Barisan Nasional should all be investigated,” a user on X alleged.
Lebih best kalau kes mcm ni buat secara telus, erti kata lain. PN/PH/BN semua kena siasat. Sayangnya, dr zaman BN/PH/PN/PHBN siasatan kes rasuah jd senjata jatuhkan pihak lawan semata-mata. Selagi perasuah ni team kita, dia selamat.
