“If I’m not nominated, I will campaign,” says Nik Abduh

FORMER Bachok MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has stated that he will continue to support PAS regardless of whether his party nominates him for the Kelantan legislative assembly election.

“Let the leadership decide. What’s important is that I remain steadfast (in God) and I will be with PAS activists during the upcoming campaign. I must accept the party’s (decision) as an ordinary member,” he told reporters after a ceramah in Bachok, Kelantan, last night (July 5).

Besides, the son of the late PAS spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat,was once a rising star in the party and a two-term MP.

However, he was defeated in the party’s leadership election in 2021, failing to keep his seat on the party’s central committee.

As a result, his party did not field him as a candidate in the November parliamentary elections.

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has remained silent on whether Nik Abdul will run in the next state elections on Aug 12.

When asked if Nik Abdul Aziz’s legacy would be affected if his sons were not nominated by PAS during the upcoming election, Nik Abdul replied in the negative.

“Tok Guru’s legacy is not about becoming candidates, but about the Islamic struggle and defending the Kelantan government,” he said. – July 6, 2023
