INSPECTOR-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has filed a lawsuit against controversial blogger Papagomo, or Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, for alleged defamation.
The case involves accusations made in videos shared on YouTube, TikTok, and other social media platforms, labelling Razarudin with derogatory terms and linking him to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The lawsuit relates to defamation allegations, accusing Razarudin of being labelled as a “sycophant” and prisoner to Anwar.
Filed on Dec 26 at the High Court, the lawsuit seeks damages for verbal and written defamation, as well as general, aggravated, exemplary, and special damages.
Razarudin is also requesting an injunction to stop further defamatory statements and the removal or destruction of all related materials. The notice of the lawsuit was served to Papagomo on Dec 29.
Lawyer Raam Kumar representing Razarudin stated the lawsuit notice was sent on Friday (Dec 27) to Papagomo, who is named as the defendant.
“Therefore, the plaintiff is claiming damages for verbal defamation, damages for written defamation, general damages, aggravated or exemplary damages, and special damages.
“The plaintiff is also seeking an injunction order to prohibit the defendant, whether personally or through employees or any other parties, from making statements and remarks deemed defamatory, as well as publishing or causing the republication of the defamatory statements,” Sinar Harian quoted him as saying. — Dec 28, 2024
