Imperial International School Ipoh: Money matters

IMPERIAL International School Ipoh (Imperial) has always placed student and staff welfare at the very top of its priorities, hence its decision to implement a cashless system for its cafeteria and bookstore.

Taking into account new normal practices in the post-pandemic era, school administrators were all in favour of encouraging more contactless interactions.

“Going cashless is a step in the right direction. There is very much less contact between vendors and students, plus it is also a lot more systematic and orderly,” noted Imperial marketing manager Renita Simmunjalam.

“It’s a convenience that most people have come to expect from an international school.”

Launched in collaboration with Hong Leong Bank, students were handed their cash cards at Imperial’s multipurpose hall and were also invited to open a junior bank account with the financial institution.

According to Imperial operations manager Joey Gan, one of the chief reasons they wanted to implement a cashless system was to improve students’ financial literacy.

“This system will allow them monitor and manage their finances easily. Budgeting skills will be enhanced.”

Imperial offers the internationally-recognised ICGSE and offers K12 education for pre-schoolers to Year 11. For more information, visit www.imperial.edu.my/. – Aug 24, 2022
