THE personal protection equipment (PPE) craze has not abated after all with travel management and services group Parlo Bhd emerging the latest newcomer in the product space.
Yesterday (April 9), Parlo inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SimplyK Sdn Bhd to explore the potential of a proposed joint venture or acquisition of SimplyK which is principally involved in the supplying of fabric material and PPE.
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, SimplyK has successfully applied for the necessary government approvals or licenses and certifications to distribute, produce, and export medical equipment such as face masks and gloves to further contribute in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The medical and surgical masks produced by SimplyK are in compliance with the strict standards of American Society for Testing & Materials (AST) whereby all products have been sterilised with ethylene oxide sterilizer to ensure it is 100% bacteria-free and can be safely utilised in surgical rooms.
Recall that Iconic Worldwide Bhd also announced yesterday its sealing of an order of 1.2 billion pieces of gloves over a 12-month period from Hong Kong-based Limmas Corporation Ltd for the supply of its Iconic Powder Free Nitrile Examination Gloves.
“We are excited about the potential joint venture or acquisition of SimplyK as we believe that we have the corporate know-how to facilitate in the expansion of SimplyK’s business reach,” commented Parlo’s executive director Ti Lian Seng.
“We view this as a stepping stone to facilitate in the growth of SimplyK products’ geographical reach and potentially expand into the Myanmar market and other Southeast Asian countries.”
Ti further noted that Parlo will be able to provide added value to SimplyK by enhancing its production output via increasing the latter’s exposure to international trade by capitalising on Parlo’s collaboration with its Myanmar partner and aiding its financial procurement.
“Supported by the experienced owners of SimplyK, we have no doubt that we will be able to facilitate the growth of SimplyK into a formidable manufacturer and supplier of high-quality face masks into the global market,” he envisaged.
SimplyK director Lee Kian Tiam expressed his confidence that its MOU tie-up with Parlo will facilitate its bid to expand its business reach internationally through the latter’s corporate know-how.
“We foresee the demand for disposable face masks will still be high due to the on-going fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Societal habits are changing since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, as wearing face masks is now becoming the new norm,” justified Lee.
“Thus we believe this will provide us with sustainable growth for our company for the years to come.” – April 10, 2021
