Is there a better option for Malaysians outside the ruling unity, Madani govt as 2025 dawns?

JUST a week ago, a self-pro-claimed Sarawakian who believes in a better Malaysia – presumably in the midst of soul-searching – claimed that there is not a single political party in Malaysia that truly represents the rakyat.

Same_Sarikei (@Same_Sarikei) went on to list down nine political parties/coalitions with a brief reasoning on each of them to back up his opinion:

  • UMNO: Destroyed Malay’s dignity
  • PAS: Tarnished Islam
  • Pakatan Harapan (PH): Befriend with corruptors
  • DAP: Married PH
  • MCA: UMNO’s bitches
  • MIC: Not sure still around
  • GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak): The late Tun Taib Mahmud’s bitches
  • GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah): Corruption king

Interestingly, some constructive comments ensued to which the poster tackled them with his personal observation.

A commenter lamented that MUDA should be the third voice for Malaysians but lack leadership in their current situation to which Same_Sarikei deemed the leaders as “a naive group of people who lack any real-life experience” so much so that it was “so easy to bring down” its president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman.

Another reckoned that “at least DAP (is) till OK” as the party “married for the sake of country” to which the poster shot down such view as “married for the sake of individual power”.

One supposedly fellow Sarawakian observed that GPS “is so much better right now” with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg having provided “so many benefits and future development for Sarawak” yet Same_Sarikei has his reservations for he has read many of Abang Jo’s promises “but I’ve yet to see them actualised”.

Another suggested voting in independent candidates but that process requires a war chest to gain traction in addition to a paradigm shift in mindset “for the rakyat to throw their weight behind indies”.

This is when the poster agreed to a certain degree but found the idea difficult to be realised given “the takyat’s dependency on the government which is the root cause of corruption in this country”.

This is when a commenter regretted that Malaysia is still unable to do better in terms of “getting good and competent politicians into state assemblies and the Parliament 60+ years after Merdeka” while another mooted the idea of simply “vote for nobody” to which the poster stated that “Malaysia will be a failed state sooner if we don’t vote”.

So is there any truth in the so-called “RAHMAN theory” given that Malaysia sems to be deprived of quality leaders, wondered a commenter.

This is when the poster contended that there is a need for change in political ideology – “a paradigm shift from government as the solution to government is the problem”.

So, who’s the winner at the end of the day, asked one commenter, to which the poster’s reply was “whoever wins, the rakyat lose”. – Dec 26, 2024
