FORMER UMNO strongman Datuk Isham Jalil tried to play off his recent Facebook post as a troll, where he hinted that the new Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil, might be the brother of Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. But it seems the joke has backfired spectacularly!
Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters have jumped in with full force, trolling Isham mercilessly for his blunder.
Instead of worrying about the MDEC CEO, they’re having a field day comparing Isham’s last name, Jalil, to everything from Bukit Jalil stadium to random landmarks and people. Looks like the punchline landed on Isham this time!
Some are accusing the former UMNO Supreme Council member of spreading misinformation, even though he insists that his question about whether the new MDEC CEO is the brother of Fahmi was just a playful troll.
“I asked because since yesterday (Oct 4), rumours have been spreading on TikTok, claiming that Fahmi’s brother was appointed as the MDEC CEO. However, there has been no response from Fahmi or MDEC.
“Therefore, I wanted clarification because if it’s true, it’s not good, and if there’s no response, people will believe something false,” Isham wrote in a Facebook post yesterday.
Earlier, Isham faced public backlash after “asking” whether MDEC CEO is Fahmi’s brother. However, in the last paragraph of the same post, Isham clarified that Anuar Fariz is not Fahmi’s brother.
“… they just share the same father’s name. Maybe they’re just friends,” said Isham.
Many criticised Isham, who was dismissed from UMNO’s Supreme Council in December 2023.
In a post on X, the account @StratcommPMX wrote:
“Looks like Najib’s advisor, Lim Sian See, just got schooled by @rafiziramli! Now he’s desperately trying to exploit Blackrock. Meanwhile, someone’s busy spreading rumors that the new MDEC CEO is related to @fahmi_fadzil. Both seem completely out of touch and lost their minds!”
