It is Tun M who failed to fix Malaysia, netizens say in chorus

MALAY Proclamation founder Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad expressed his challenges in garnering support from the younger generation due to their lack of awareness about the country’s history.

“We face difficulties with the youth as they are not familiar with our nation’s history and struggles,” he stated during a press conference following a community meeting on the Malay Proclamation at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.

He further highlighted that many young people fail to comprehend the significance of past struggles, merely perceiving their current situation as “okay” without recognising the contributions made by previous generations.

Dr Mahathir also mentioned the support he received from leaders in PAS and Bersatu for his initiative. He emphasised his ability to contribute through ideas and expressed disappointment in leaders who disregarded his opinions upon assuming power.

Moreover, the former Langkawi MP cited examples of Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who ignored his advice while Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had his own perspective on the “Untold Story.”

Nevertheless, he attracted ire on the internet, where social media users were not kind to him.

“My descendants will have to pay the debts BN accumulated. The gap between races? If the 60 plus years were done well, there will be no gap. We were highly sought after once. Now? It were your policies on human capital and its quality.”

User Thiban Subbramaniam added:

“The old man alone is good, he is qualified to administer but 22 years of Dr Mahathir administering + 22 months in total, he only prepares a lot of scripts however problems increased as well.

“Against forgetfulness, the old man used to claim ‘Lazy Malays’ but now he wants to save the Malays. He wants to save those grandchildren and cronies. It’s a sign.

“Anwar almost succeeded in overturning all the hypocrisy of the old man.”

Meanwhile, a user reminded Dr Mahathir why he is not in Parliament anymore.

“Dr Mahathir is right, we want to vote for him but unfortunately the majority in Langkawi is smart, they already know the secret of divide and rule.” – July 9, 2023
