“Jangan cabar Islam”: Threatening notes found scattered outside Nga’s parents’ house

COPIES of threatening notes were found scattered in front of the house of Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming’s parents in Ayer Tawar, Perak today (March 7).

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said the 76-year-old had found numerous papers scattered in front of her house while she was coming out on Thursday (March 7) at about 10.15am.

ACP Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said the notes contained the words “Nga Kor Ming (Jangan Cabar Islam)” (Don’t Challenge Islam).

“She believes that the wordings have ill intentions. The case has been classified under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication, whereby those convicted can face up to two years in jail or with a fine or both,” he said in a statement.

He said that police are still in the midst of an investigation and the cause of the incident is yet to be known.

“Efforts are taken to trace the perpetrator,” he added, urging the public to not make any speculations that would affect the investigation of the case.

“Those with information over the incidents are urged to share it with the investigation officer Inspector Fariq Nazmi Mohd Mustafa at 013-3317099,” he said.

According to Sin Chew Daily, Nga, who is in Hong Kong on an official trip, said he would leave the matter to the police.

However, the minister told those behind the incident not to trouble his family, especially his elderly parents.

In a statement put up by the state DAP committee on its Facebook page, it said that the party firmly condemned the actions by the irresponsible party.

“It clearly violates the law, besides contradicting the values of a civilised society. We leave it to the discretion of the police to investigate and deal with the case,” it said.

“We uphold the rule of law and believe that every individual has the right to voice their opinions without having to worry about being threatened or physically attacked.” – March 7, 2024
