HARTALEGA Holdings Bhd has denied its involvement in a job posting that seeks male and female foreign nationals to work in a glove plant in Bestari Jaya (formerly Batang Berjuntai), Selangor.
According to one job posting which is being circulated over WhatsApp and Facebook, the vacancy is only opened to all foreign nationals who possess valid passport and are currently residing in the state of Selangor.
Without specifying the employer who will be arranging for the work permit, the advertisement said candidates should be aged between 19 and 45 years old and must be willing to six days a week over two shifts (from 7am to 7pm).

“With reference to your query on the job vacancy posting we wish to inform that the posting has no relation or connection to Hartalega,” a Hartalega spokesperson told FocusM.
Apart from Hartalega, other glove plants in the vicinity of Bestari Jaya include Great Eco Glove Sdn Bhd and Brightway Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Commenting on the latest surge of demand for manual labours, independent migrant worker rights specialist Andy Hall attributed the situation to desperation stemming from massive shortage of workers given that the latest lockdown in the form of movement control order (MCO 3.0) has prevented glove makers from hiring fresh workers.
“Regularisation is fine (in the form of recalibration and 6Ps comprising passage, passenger, power, position, psyche or perception and parity) but it needs to be controlled and be formal with the government and business involved – as opposed to brokers, agents and bogus employers.”
Meanwhile, another “supposedly more transparent” job vacancy advertisement claimed that WRP Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd which is based in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi in Sepang has intention to hire “500 visa-free workers at its own expense”.
The ad said foreigners residing in the country illegally after the expiration of their visa are eligible to apply.
Interested candidates should contact the agent on an urgent basis. – May 25, 2021
