THE Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, called on all parties to stop and remain cautious when issuing comments or opinions that could trigger tension and damage the harmony of Malaysia’s multiracial society.
He stressed that every viewpoint must be grounded in accurate facts first, rather than being thrown out carelessly, which would only “pour oil on a burning fire.”
“If this is how we act, it’s extremely dangerous. That’s why, be fair to yourself and society. Ensure the facts are correct first,” he said.
He spoke to reporters during the Muslim Restaurant Operators Association rice aid program for 3,333 asnaf ahead of Aidilfitri at Maahad Tahfiz Al-Faridiyah in Taman Seri Rampai, Setapak, on Sunday, Bernama reported.
Also present were Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, and PRESMA President, Datuk Jawahar Ali Taib Khan.—Mar 30, 2025
