PAKATAN Harapan is planning works to expand its cooperation for the upcoming Johor state election, with Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) possibly joining hands with the coalition.
“This will increase our chances to winning the state polls,” its presidential council said, in a statement.
On Jan 22, the Johor state assembly was dissolved to make way for state election.
Since then, Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) had been at loggerheads as the latter claimed the former had not consulted them on the matter.
UMNO-led BN coalition had reiterated that it would go solo in the polls despite overtures by its Perikatan allies: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and PAS.
PKR using own banner
The matter became worse when UMNO only conceded four seats to PAS, which the latter called as “unfair”.
On related matter, Pakatan had decided that while the DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will be contesting under its banner, PKR will using its own logo for the Johor election.
“PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be writing to the Election Commission (EC) so as to the inform the electoral body to hand over the authority to nominate Pakatan candidates to DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu,” it remarked. – Jan 26, 2022
