OFFICE interior specialist AHB Holdings Bhd has appointed Tunku Kamariah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar (main pic), a member of the Johor royal family, as its new non-executive chairman effective today.
Her appointment coincidentally came on the back of an acquisition of 73.28 million shares by RHB Trustees Bhd on May 9 which raised the latter’s direct interest in AHB to 136.37 million shares or a 28.69% .
For the record, Tunku Kamariah, 66, is the eldest sister of Johor Sultan, His Highness Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, who is expected to be the made the next Yang di-Pertuan Agong in January 2024 after the reign of Pahang’s Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah comes to an end.
Tunku Kamariah currently holds the post of one of the trustees of the Sultan Iskandar Foundation, a foundation that supports post-graduate scholars among the less privileged in education and research works.
Additionally, she is also a patron of Protect and Save the Children Association of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur (P.S. The Children), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) for sexually-abused children.
Internationally, Tunku Kamariah is also an ambassador of the Asian Liver Centre at the Stanford University in the US.
Aside from her patronage of various charity organisations, she is also an active participant in the corporate world in Malaysia through her involvement in the construction, development and agricultural businesses.
Tunku Kamariah also holds a doctorate in creative leadership from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
At the close of today’s trading, AHB closed up 1.5 sen or 11.54% to 14.5 sen with 19.87 million shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM69 mil. – May 16, 2023
