Justo leaves Malaysia, back in homeland

SWISS banker Xavier Andre Justo and his family have left Malaysia and are now back in Switzerland following the change in Malaysian government. The Pakatan Harapan government was toppled following a week of political turmoil, which saw Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin being sworn in as the new leader.

“We as a family have suffered a lot and I couldn’t take the risk of making the people I love the most suffer again in case things went wrong.

“We are now back and safe in Switzerland but our hearts and souls are with all of you.

“We are fully convinced that Malaysia will wake up soon with a democratic government duly elected,” Justo posted on Facebook on March 5.

Justo was a former employee of PetroSaudi International and had during the unraveling of the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal, got into trouble with authorities in Thailand where he was arrested and imprisoned for allegedly blackmailing the company.

According to news reports, he was accused of information theft by PetroSaudi. Later reports showed that he had passed data related to the alleged culprits from PetroSaudi International in the 1MDB scandal to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

In media interviews, the accidental whistleblower confessed that although he had first exposed the unethical dealings involving the 1MDB fund, his initial plan was that he wanted the final US$2 mil he was supposed to receive from PetroSaudi in 2011 as part of a US$6.5 mil golden parachute. – March 6, 2020
