Kadir Jasin rues 1.2m Chinese nationals ‘undetectable’ yet entire nation is harping on one who is denied entry

SEEING Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing who has been hailed for his heroics as a ‘villain’, veteran journalist and blogger Datuk A. Kadir Jasin has chided the former for “raiding” the Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) immigration authority just because one Chinese national was prevented from entering Malaysia.

After all, Kadir said it was also reported that the woman traveller entered without a return ticket and that she intended “to work” as a care giver in the country.

“Does the Human Resources Minster have any information (on this)? The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) must also investigate if indeed there was an element of corruption associated with the arrival of this woman,” he penned on his latest Facebook post.

“(After all), news reports claimed that more than 1.2 million Chinese citizens entered (Malaysia) but did not leave. (But) no minister from the past until now has launched any attack on the Immigration Department.”

Elaborating on his data, Kadir pointed to the mass media which quoted a recent Home Ministry’s reply to a Dewan Rakyat question that the Immigration Department’s entry and exit records found that a total of 7,177,043 (7.18 million) Chinese citizens entered Malaysia for the period between 2018 and 2021.

“But the number who left Malaysia during the same period was only 5,954,765 (5.95 million) people. So, what happened to the other 1,222,278 (1.22 million) people?” asked the former Bersatu supreme council member who in recent times has been touted as a Madani critic for his tendency of finding ways and means to undermine the unity government.

“The Chinese government is quiet while the Malaysian ministers are relaxed (over the matter). There wasn’t even a report of 1.2 million Chinese tourists being kidnapped or trafficked. Could they have become traders (of sorts).”

Kadir further cautioned that the 1.2 million number is not a small figure as it is “close to the population of Kelantan and more than four times the population of Perlis”.

“Don’t play around. If indeed the records of the Immigration Department are correct, we will be in trouble and danger,” he warned. “China is a communist country. There is only one political party which is the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). CCP has 96 million members.”

Raising more concerns, the former group editor-in-chief of the New Straits Times hinted that the country could be courting unnecessary danger “with 1.2 million Chinese citizens secretly living in our backyards”.

“The subsidised rice that they eat alone is burdensome enough,” Kadir claimed. “The silent presence of Chinese nationals (and those from other countries) can also damage our madani (civil) characteristics which are people living in peace, respecting each other, being polite and are free to express their views appropriately.”

Added Kadir: “(Finally), it seems that even the ministers have no respect for each other. There is no more decorum.” – July 3, 2023
