ANGKATAN Muda Keadilan (AMK) has responded to former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s apology over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal, emphasising that an apology cannot substitute legal accountability.
AMK insists that strict action based on legal principles must continue, as justice for the Malaysian public cannot be compromised.
They call on the government and authorities to ensure that all involved, regardless of status, face legal consequences.
“AMK emphasises that firm action based on legal principles must continue, and this apology should not be used as a shield for any party to avoid greater responsibility for the wrongdoing committed.
“Public interest and justice for the Malaysian people must not be compromised. A mere apology will not remedy the losses suffered by the Malaysian people.
“Those impacted by this scandal cannot be neglected. AMK urges the government and authorities to ensure that firm action continues and that all involved in the scandal, regardless of status or position, are brought to justice,” said a media release published on the AMK X (formerly Twitter) account.

Meanwhile, AMK Youth information chief Ammar Atan has responded positively to Najib’s recent apology over the 1MDB scandal, hoping it serves as a lesson for all leaders in power.
In an open letter, Ammar praised Najib’s apology as a brave act and urged that justice continue to be served for the Malaysian people who suffered losses from the scandal.
He emphasised that Najib’s apology highlights the importance of legal action taken to uphold the country’s integrity and financial stability.
However, he stated that justice must continue to be upheld on behalf of the people who have borne the losses from the scandal. – Oct 26, 2024
