EMBATTLED former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) has found himself in hot soup with a police report lodged against him for pointing the finger at Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said by “being complicit in concealing details” in the royal addendum saga.
With detractors calling Azalina to sue the former UMNO member-turned-fierce critic of the Madani government, this misstep could pave way for the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to act against the Keluar Sekejap podcast co-host under the various provision of the law.
As it is, a police report was filed against the former three-term Rembau MP by Azalina’s political secretary Datuk Suraya Yaacob yesterday (Jan 10) afternoon at the Sentul district police headquarter for having levelled an unjust accusation at the Pengerang MP and UMNO supreme council member in his latest weekly political podcast segment.
“As such, I request for investigation to be conducted against Khairy’s under Section 499 of the Penal Code for criminal defamation on a Cabinet Minister by intentionally harming her reputation and good name,” Suraya stated in her police report.
Kepada yang terpaling DJ, satu laporan polis telah dibuat kepada Saudara KJ oleh Dato Suraya Yaacob, setiausaha politik YB Dato Sri Azalina, Menteri Di Jabatan Perdana Menteri (Bahagian Hal Ehwal Undang2) petang tadi.

“Additionally, investigation should also be carried out under Section 124 of the Penal Code for spreading false statements that could cause public alarm as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia. Act 1998 for abuses of the Instagram platform to distribute false content or other relevant provisions of hie law”.
Baseless accusations
In her police report, Suraya also pointed to the statement by the legal affairs division (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister’s Department dated yesterday (Jan 10) that there was no record of any addendum order concerning Najib’s house arrest.
This further confirmed that the division was never informed or received any official instructions from the palace over the matter. As such, all matters related to the Pardons Board are deemed to have been fulfilled in accordance to the law and established procedures.
Apart from Azalina, KJ had also called out Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa by urging her to speak up despite the PKR lawmaker having recently emphasised that minutes pertaining to the Pardons Board deliberations are confidential.
“It’s impossible that the cabinet is unaware of this matter. I believe these two ministers (Azalina and Dr Zaliha) bear responsibility but they’ve remained silent,” claimed KJ.
“I salute Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution (Ismail). Even though he once said it was hearsay, at least he went on record to say that the Prison Department didn’t receive the addendum … perhaps he was instructed by the prime minister in an effort to throw him under the bus”.
A quick glance in the comment section of the tweet by #GirlsNotBrides – Dinie Fadil (@diniemohdfadil) revealed that netizens have very little sympathy for KJ in this matter with many admonished “his swing to the green side”. – Jan 11, 2025
