KLCC escalator issues: X page says they’re not KTMB

AFTER being referred to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook over escalators that are not working in the KLCC mall, an account on X replied that KLCC is not the train services or KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd).

Ever since the pandemic, the escalators in KLCC have been undergoing several renovations, much to the dismay of many shoppers.

For the most part, this is a minor inconvenience to the shoppers, as there are multiple escalators either going up or down in the mall. Luxury malls of a certain age are in need of constant renovations and repairs in order to keep up their image.

Back in 2022, Malaysians expressed their gratitude on social media to Loke for promptly repairing the escalators at KLCC’s LRT station.

In a Facebook post on the ‘We Are Malaysians’ page, users documented their experiences using the newly operational escalators after years of waiting.

“After three years, the KLCC station escalators have finally been fixed,” read the post. A TikTok video showing the operational escalators went viral, garnering over 70,000 views.

Then, commenters praised Loke for his efforts and urged other ministers to follow his example, emphasising the importance of effective leadership and service to the public.

Now, netizens on X are complaining that there are several escalators in the mall that are yet to be repaired. However, a user said that the mall is not KTMB for them to be reported to Loke.

Other users joked that escalators are vertical transportation devices, hence he may get involved.

Other netizens hope that these jokes may bring those who are responsible for the repairs to take action.

Since KLCC’s Suria Mall is one of Malaysia’s flagship malls, it is key for them to have the most minimal disturbance in the customer experience. Having decommissioned escalators could be a disturbance to some.  – May 25, 2024
