KUMPULAN Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP) has donated RM100,000 worth of drones and accessories to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to assist their surveillance efforts in enforcing the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb the spread of Covid-19.
In a statement today, KWAP said the deployment of additional drones for surveillance will enhance PDRM’s capability to provide wider coverage and monitoring of hard-to-reach areas.
“This effort is in collaboration with one of KWAP’s technology portfolio companies, Aerodyne Group, which is a leading global drone-based asset management solutions and services provider,” it said.
It added that Aerodyne is working closely with PDRM on aerial monitoring during the MCO and will continue to complement the police force with its resources and knowledge on the use of drones for surveillance.
KWAP has also contributed RM500,000 to government-linked companies and government-linked investment companies’ disaster response network fund.
The fund aims to meet the demand from hospitals for medical equipment, personal protective equipment (PPEs), ventilators and food supplies, among others.
“Our effort in this respect is in line with KWAP’s corporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) guideline.
“Through this, we have been adopting an official stance that while we strive to generate good returns on our investment, we would still be mindful of the needs of the general community, pensioners, and future pensioners creating positive impacts in the areas and the public that we operate in”, said KWAP CEO Syed Hamadah Syed Othman. — May 6, 2020, Bernama
