Labu PN candidate Mohamad Hanifah hits out at PH’s cybertroopers: “I’m a pure Malay, not a Bangla!”

BUSINESSMAN Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker (main pic, far right) who is standing in his maiden election as a Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Labu state seat in Negri Sembilan is crying foul as some cybertroopers are smearing his reputation by alleging that “he is a Bangladeshi who holds a blue Malaysian IC (identity card)”.

The Negri Sembilan Bersatu treasurer who is also the Rasah division chief will be engaged in a straight fight with Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate from PKR Ismail Ahmad this Saturday (Aug 12).

“No doubt my grandfather is a mamak (Indian Muslim) from Kampung LB Johnson (named after former US president Lyndon Baines Johnson who visited the once FELDA settlement on Oct 31, 1966, during his trip to Malaysia) but we’re all Malaysians by birth,” he told FocusM.

“It’s sad that some cybertroopers went to the extent of running down my family tree by claiming that I’m a fake Bumiputera. I’ll not let this act of provocation to dampen my spirit; in fact, I’m more motivated than ever to ensure PN make inroads into Negri Sembilan”.

A WhatsApp text which has since gone viral to run down Labu state seat candidate Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker

A check on Hanifah’s profile furnished by his campaign manager revealed that the 43-year-old father of four had his primary school education in SRK Felda Palong 2 (1987-1992) before pursuing his secondary school education in SMK Felda Palong 2 (1993-1997) prior to obtaining a professional diploma in operation management from the Japan Malaysia Technical Institute (JMTI).

Currently, the managing director of real estate-based Zulfikar Holdings Sdn Bhd is also a Negri Sembilan PN treasurer.

Hanifah also claimed to have been active in politics since 2020 – at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic – during which he has undertaken 208 programmes whereby he has channelled 11,645 assistance packages within the vicinity of the Rasah district. – Aug 9, 2023
