LABUAN: Labuan Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) traders can heave a sigh of relief as local authority the Labuan Corporation (LC) is offering a 50% discount on monthly rental for all leased premises in the UTC Building.
LC CEO Dr Fary Akmal Osman said the move is one of the initiatives taken by the local authority to ease the financial burden faced by the traders (due to low volume of customers), while improving the people’s wellbeing due to the current economic slowdown.
“The discount is offered to all 163 traders renting premises at the building at between RM310 and RM400 a month … and this discount is for one year from April until March 2021,” she added.
In stressing that LC is committed to helping improve the people’s wellbeing, especially those doing business, she explained that the rental discount was offered following a plea from the traders, as well as being in line with the recently-launched economic stimulus package.
Dr Fary said LC is also extending a rental discount to tenants of the housing settlement ‘Perumahan Mesra Rakyat’ in Kampung Sungai Bangat until year-end.
The tenants in the residential have already been paying a discounted monthly rental of between RM180 and RM250 but this was supposed to end in February.
