WHEN a group of people are required to live together in a dense place, expect all forms of drama to occur.
So it comes as no surprise that we occasionally come across the Neighbour From Hell, who enjoys making life difficult for anyone living in the vicinity.
Recently a video went viral, which showed a CCTV capturing a lady placing a briefcase at the front of another person’s home.
Allegations were hurled at her, stating that she was dumping garbage into some other people’s property. Also, the comment section took on a racist tone since the lady happened to be Indian.
“How long have you been living here? Still new right? She has been living here for 130 years. That is the designated place for her to throw her rubbish,” said a sarcastic @faizulazmi9, perhaps subtly referring to the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple issue.
The comment section was dripping with sarcasm, with @Muhammad_yhy saying that people should ask her, “Do you have any other rubbish you need help to dispose of?
“Perhaps she was jealous that the roof of her house was the shortest?” said @Jiemonas.
Another netizen claimed he once had an Indian neighbour who he felt couldn’t pay for a rubbish bin since the person would take his rubbish bin and place it at his house.
Netizen @shahzafis echoed his statement, saying that some neighbors would hide their rubbish bin and put their trash in some other people’s bin.
Noting the many hate-filled comments, netizen @SinarBersa68456 wondered if people were truly angry with her for placing the garbage at her neighbour’s home or was it because she is of the Indian race.
However, @rkak90128 pointed out that there may be more to the situation than what was portrayed in the video.
According to her, the lady may have just returned from travelling and that she was giving something back to the neighbour after borrowing it.
Netizen @bf8b7e2252314f8 cautioned that there was worse behaviour out there. Apparently some neighbours would set up camps in the residential area for weeks and park their cars under it.
Little else was revealed by the brief video. But on our part, we would like to point out that bad behaviour is a “disease” that infects people from all walks of life.
While the internet community plays a vital role as a monitor to such behaviour, it must be mindful not to also become the very creature it seeks to condemn. —May 27, 2025
