THE late head honcho of Raine & Horne Penang Michael Geh Thuan Peng would be pleased to know that the chartered surveyor and registered valuer firm in which he served as a senior partner since 1994 is still in good hands.
This follows the ‘cross-over’ of the entire team of Raine & Horne Penang to Nawawi Tie, a full-service, real estate consulting firm with immediate effect.
A total of 16 professionals including Linda Geh (Michael’s sister) who heads the plant & machinery department and Celia Fung (agency team head) will be joining Nawawi Tie which has more than 400 skilled professionals in the region as part of the Edmund Tie Group with offices in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
To re-cap, Michael who was president of FIABCI East Asia Multi National Chapter succumbed to the COVID-19 pandemic at the Penang General Hospital on May 15.
The 57 year-old Penang-born property veteran was tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to the hospital a few days earlier.
Nawawi Tie’s managing director Eddy Wong viewed the move as a good opportunity for his firm to strengthen its capability in the northern region.
“We have always been active in the Penang market, and with the addition of this team of professionals who have been operating in Penang for the past 26 years, we are well placed to better service our existing and expanded clientele,” he pointed out.
The firm’s executive director Daniel Ma opined that the exercise is a perfect timing “to grow our business aggressively as we anticipate the market will pick up soon with the completion of the vaccination drive by this year-end”.
“We will continue to look for opportunities to further expand our presence in the Malaysian market,” noted Ma who is also Nawawi Tie’s head of valuation.
He will be driving this business together with Lum MingMing, a licensed valuer, property manager and estate agent.
