LCS issue splits PH and MUDA further with Syed Saddiq in the middle

RECENTLY, MUDA president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman questioned the progress of the whole littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal.

Syed controversially stated that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) was harping at the UMNO before the 15th General Election (GE15). However, now that they are in power, the issue seems to be stagnant with little to no updates.

User @SyedSaddiq wrote:

“Before state elections (PRU) with a green tick and after state elections with a red X. Strange but true. Young people judge wisely.”

The post by Syed may indicate that MUDA may not support the PH-Barisan Nasional (BN) regime.

In addition to this, reports state that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) conducted a working visit and proceedings to assess the progress of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s (TLDM) second-generation LCS.

PAC chairman Datuk Wira Mas Ermieyati Samsudin stated that on Saturday (June 10) that three witnesses provided testimony from 2:30pm to 6:00pm at the Boustead Naval Shipyard (BNS) located in the Lumut Naval Base, Perak.

The witnesses included the Defence Ministry’s deputy secretary-general (development) Datuk Dr Shahrazat Ahmad, BNS chairman Datuk Ahmad Nazim Abd Rahman and BNS chief executive officer Azhar Jummat.

In a tweet explaining what is happening with the PAC and the LCS.

Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan said:

Furthermore, Syahredzan was questioned by a netizen regarding the matter.

He responded by stating that he has visited the shipyard and there is no speculation or pre-empting of the PAC’s verdict. It appears that there is progress regarding the matter, but the time taken for such proceedings is consuming.

Twitter user Famoy @panzer194045 added:

However, even Syed is getting some backlash for his statement from netizens. It appears that people are still unhappy that he met former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin especially when the LCS issue was ongoing during his tenure.

Twitter user @madmarquez said:

“Before the election, Perikatan Nasional (PN) government pressured him by wanting to charge him with a case due to him not supporting Muhyiddin’s government.

“However, after the election, he stated that he supports bipartisanship. The netizen then added a selfie of Syed and TSMY.”

The user added that this is strange and pointed out that young people can judge wisely, referring to Syed’s previous statement that young MUDA elements can judge wisely. – June 11, 2023
