“THERE is a risk of salmonella in egg yolks which are not properly cooked”.
Such is the sharing of netizen 🫡 ᖴᗩᗪᕼ ✌️(@fadhadlamya), referring to the fried sunny-side-up eggs that was served alongside the fried meehoon (vermicelli) to participants of the Gombak district-level Program Kemahiran Amal Islami (KAMIL) on Saturday (June 8) which involved 30 primary schools.

For context, the aforementioned food has been deemed key suspect in the food poisoning incident which resulted in two deaths out of the 247 exposed individuals with 82 of them reported to have symptoms such as diarrhoea, stomach pain, fever, vomiting and nausea.
Aside from pupils, others involved included administrators, teachers, school staff and family members aged between 19 months and 58 years, according to Selangor Health Director Dr Ummi Kalthom Shamsudin. The dead are a female toddler aged 19 months and a teenage boy aged 17.
Another netizen stressed the need for the Health Ministry (MOH) enforcement team to ascertain the cleanliness level of the food operator’s kitchen while the event’s manager should also be strict in selecting the food caterer.
After all, the caterer in question “might only know how to take order” but not even possess a food safety certificate or even a typhoid injection.
Another netizen suggested that food that has been exposed for more than two hours are no longer edible “because the bacteria would have multiplied”.
As shared by a victim of severe food poisoning recently, he, too, had a similar meal comprising rice vermicelli and fried sunny-side-up egg which he thought “had changed taste” when he consumed the food in the evening.
Last but not least, few netizens called for harsh punishment including jail term to be meted out on the food caterer given two deaths occurred from consuming his food. – June 12, 2024
