“Let MACC do its job,” blogger tells Anwar

WELL-KNOWN blogger Shahbudin Husin who fought against the former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak-scandal-rigged government is now turning his horns towards the Pakatan Harapan-led (PH) government and in particular against Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.Shahbudin said Anwar, now in power for 15 months has spoken about his fight against corruption at least 31 times. This is too much, he says, adding that the PM should now let the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) do its job instead of bombarding the crowds with the reminder that the PH government is fighting against the rich and super-rich, which is now called the ‘untouchables’.“Anwar has now held the position of PM for about 15 months and during that period, it seems that he has repeated the story about the corruption of the rich that he is working hard to fight no less than 30 times,” he wrote. He also came up with the analogy of a friend eating Nasi Kandar once a month, which would equal having the same favourite meal 15 times in 15 months. Thus, gloating about it is not helpful.“An easy-to-understand concept here, the frequency with which Anwar repeats the story of the corruption of the super-rich is twice as much as the frequency with which.”

The question is, is it right for Anwar to repeat the same story too often? Yesterday (Feb 17), when speaking in Penang, Anwar once again touched on that.“Before that, he always called them the rich and super-rich, this time the label was raised again to the untouchables who he claimed embezzled large amounts of money but were always able to avoid punishment because of their influence.“Anwar went on to say that the government’s efforts to fight corruption are not because of old grudges but because they want to free the country from the symptoms of corruption.“Anwar should be aware that he is now the PM and all power is currently being gathered within his will and desires.”While power does not give you the magical wand to snap your fingers to see all problems go away, Shahbudin argued “Once there is power in the hands as it is now, it is no longer sweet to talk as if you miss or want to return to being the Opposition leader.”Moreover, he emphasised the importance of ensuring that efforts to combat corruption yield tangible results, including recovering stolen wealth. It suggests that once power is attained, vocal activism may not be necessary, as actions can speak louder than words.

It also mentions ongoing actions against corruption, questioning the need for continued public outcry.“Isn’t it better to leave it entirely to the MACC to carry out their work?,” he asked because with Anwar repeating this too often, even to the point of mentioning that the prison cell he once lived in at Sungai Buloh is still empty, he is indirectly sprinkling old grudges that are still visibly thick in his soul.He thus advised Anwar to show that he does not interfere in the work done by the MACC. – Feb 18, 2024
