“Liew must take responsibility for the role he played in the Johor state polls”

DAP lawmaker Liew Chin Tong has vigorously promoted MUDA and its president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman despite the latter being charged for criminal breach of trust (CBT) and money laundering.

What is Liew’s motive for promoting the court cluster within the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition itself? Would it be a plus to win more electorate’s trust towards PH?

In my opinion, all leaders and party members facing corruption charges should be censured equally as “court clusters” without exerting undue political pressure on the judiciary. This is the only way to an advanced and civilised nation.

Liew’s earlier statement about PH’s strategy for winning the next general election should be taken with a pinch of salt as with any statements made that were not collective decisions made by DAP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) or the PH presidential council.

Last August, before the dissolution of the Johor state assembly, Liew bypassed the Johor DAP state committee and the CEC to propose himself for senatorship under the Johor BN-PN government claiming that he had the blessings from parties concerned.

Even now, Liew has not denied my testimony categorically and openly, which proves that there is truth in my previous revelation.

If Liew thinks that my testimony is untrue, he should have denied it openly and categorically but he did not. He is welcome to bring the matter to the DAP Disciplinary Committee and I welcome any disciplinary investigation.

I have previously written to the PH presidential council and requested an investigation but so far, I have received no reply.

In order to prove what I have said is true, I request that the DAP disciplinary committee and PH presidential council launch an investigation about my testimony.

Liew should come clear that he did not have any personal agenda in his proposal for Johor senatorship under the BN/PN government before claiming his credibility in being a strategist for PH, and his strategy proposals have to be meticulously questioned before then.

While questioning UMNO’s “court cluster”, Liew praised Syed Saddiq who is also facing CBT and money laundering charges.

He should not hide the fact that the court cluster within PH itself would make voters become more pessimistic and equating PH with BN with equally poor public standings and credibility.

This would further force a substantial portion of voters supporting PN elsewhere thus resulting in a great loss to PH and a victory by default to BN.

Before the 14th general election (GE14) in 2018, I forewarned about the adverse consequences of PH narrative being dominated by Bersatu’s ethnocentric inclination which was indeed proven to be damaging to PH’s commitment so as to implement non-racial and unifying multiculturalism to save Malaysia.

Liew’s consistent flaws in strategy is to have been championing an ethnocentric mindset and unconditionally relying on Bersatu and Muhyiddin to dominate the PH government then and the opposition now, especially in Johor.

Johor has been the fortress for change and the Johor chapter of Pakatan Harapan (Johor PH) would be the key state in reforms. Nonetheless, the Johor PH government was the first to fall and subsequently lose Putrajaya because Liew had, in many instances, bypassed PH and DAP’s collective decision-making process.

Liew must take responsibility for allowing Bersatu and Muhyiddin to dominate Johor and causing the subsequent collapse of the PH government while also playing a role in the opposition’s defeat in the recent Johor and other states’ elections.

Liew is indeed the key mastermind in boosting UMNO-like ethnocentric narrative in DAP and PH, causing PH to lose more ground than gaining any. – April 28, 2022
