Industrial accessories

Whoever thought that parts of the industrial truck such as the forklift can be turned into fashion accessories? It turns out that Egan Equipment and Parts Sdn Bhd had the idea all along, and with the help of Saito University fashion students, the dream has become a reality.

Twenty participants were chosen to take part in the Egan CULT Fashion Accessory Design Competition and were allowed to visit Egan warehouse and office in Taman Miharja, Kuala Lumpur.

“They get to see, touch and look at different products that inspired them at the warehouse. They then do more research and understanding of the products, as they get to bring back some of the samples from the trip,” said the Fashion Design Programme Coordinator of Saito College, Sharifah Mazwari.

“In this case, they are working with products that are not usually used in the fashion industry. If we are talking about the industry, we always think about fabric, needles and yarns. But fashion is more than that. We are inspired by anything under the sun,” explained Sharifah.

The preparation took around two month and from the 20 participants, five finalists – Alaysia Chen Yi Teng, Ester Haw Jin Rong, Sara Alysha Ranee Bakri, Yushathiana Tuah Ahmad Fauzi and Yuvia Lee Ying Jing – were chosen to be part of the Egan CULT (short for culture) Fashion Accessory Design Competition that happened in August.
