New rule to wine pairing

A product of Barossa Valley, Wolf Blass has grown to become one of the world’s most awarded wine brands. Now, the label is leading the way in reinventing wine pairing rules.

Done in partnership with Michelin Guide, Wolf Blass carried out a regional campaign entitled ‘Find Your Flavour’ to get consumers to try unique, experimental combinations in relation to sauces in the dishes of Asian cuisine rather than just the proteins served.

This was tried out on a group of media members at Ember Modern Bistro in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, whereby chef Gary Anwar replicated four sauces created by chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants across Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan, to be paired with Gold Label Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

According to brand ambassador Sam Stephens from Australia, the wine masterclass served to highlight the sauces in Asian dishes to address wine pairing misconceptions. By experimenting with sauces, diners get a new dimension to traditional food and wine pairing.

The exclusive partnership between Wolf Blass and Michelin Guide also led to a bespoke six-course menu crafted by Gary, highlighting locally-sourced South-East Asian ingredients, to go with the Wolf Blass Gold Label series and the Wolf Blass Grey Label McLaren Vale Shiraz.
