LKL International adds COVID-19 contact tracing tokens to its product portfolio

LKL International Bhd, a provider of medical/healthcare beds, peripherals and accessories, is venturing into the marketing and development of COVID-19 contact tracing tokens in Malaysia and internationally.

This is made possible with the inking of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the company’s subsidiary LKL Advance Metaltech Sdn Bhd and Singapore-based iWOW Technology Pte Ltd.

LKL Advance Metaltech would also obtain the rights from iWOW Technology to commercialise, market, sell and distribute Trace Token in Malaysia over a 24-month period.

The trace token is a small physical device that securely automates contact tracing by detecting other devices via Bluetooth technology, thus facilitating digital contact tracing efforts in response to COVID-19.

Established in 1999,  iWOW Technology which will be manufacturing and supplying the trace token is a global Internet of Things (IoT) technology provider specialising in Smart Tracking, Smart Metering and other Smart Nation solutions.

“By introducing the trace token to the Malaysian market, we are bringing an innovative and proven technology that would help track and contain the COVID-19 virus,” LKL International managing director Lim Kon Lian pointed out.

“This device also serves as a viable alternative to mobile applications, and can be marketed to a wide range of users including public healthcare, commercial entities as well as private users.”

Lim added the MOU with iWOW would further strengthen LKL International’s product portfolio as a leading manufacturer and distributor of diverse medical and healthcare solutions in Malaysia.

At the close of today’s morning session, LKL International was up one sen or 1.32% at 77 sen with 5.14 million shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM382 mil. – Feb 9, 2021
