Local sensation Johan “Jojo” Ghazali defeats Mexican star Tabares in a 36s KO

MALAYSIAN Muay Thai fighter Johan “Jojo” Ghazali has become a viral sensation with a 36-second knock-out (KO) win against Mexican star Edgar Tabares.

The Sarawakian notched his fifth consecutive win this year by flooring the Mexican in the ONE Fight Night 17 catchweight bout at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok yesterday (Dec 8).

The 17-year-old said: “My name is Johan, in Malay it means champion. I will be on a mission to live up to my name.

“Mark my word, I’ll be the youngest ONE Muay Thai champion ever. I feel great, it has been a hectic fight week. It’s amazing, I’m on the big stage now. It’s just the beginning. There will be bigger fights to come… stay tuned, guys.”

Moreover, his attack which included two punches to the face and one to Tabares’ ribs, led to his opponent’s downfall, making it difficult for the star to continue the fight.

Johan made history by securing a US$100,000 (RM467,000) contract with ONE Championship Thailand after knocking out Russian fighter Temirlan Bekmurzaev. – Dec 9, 2023
